Milltek Sport exhaust to be used on the first Volkwagen Golf in the BTCC for more than 20 years

One of Milltek's top UK distributors, AmD Essex are entering the 2010 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). The really interesting news is that our chosen car is a VW Golf, a manufacturer unseen in the BTCC arena for over 20 years."We are really proud to be bringing the Volkswagen name back into top-line touring cars. We have been working on a plan to move up to the BTCC arena after winning the Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup in 2009 and a BTCC VW Golf is a perfect fit," said AmD's Shaun Hollamby. "The VW Golf is one of the UK's most popular cars and it would be great to see hordes of VW Golf owners cheering us on throughout the year!"Further team sponsors will be announced over the coming months.Hollamby will be the main driver and Simon Shaw, who won the Dunlop Sportmaxx title for AmD, is trying to raise the necessary budget to campaign the car at selected rounds of the championship. The car is based on a MK5 VW Golf shell with a 2.0 16V normally aspirated power unit with a competitive 285bhp. Sadev sequential gearbox, KW competition suspension, Milltek exhaust, HJS Sports catalytic converter and Alcon brake and clutch parts complete the performance package."Starting with a new car package, we expect 2010 to be a gradual development season but I am confident I can get a few competitive results. Winning races is not a realistic target at this stage but, having won races in every series in which I have competed, I would like to think I can hold my own at this level," said Hollamby. The AmD BTCC Golf will be on display at the Autosport and Pistonheads Show next weekend in Birmingham. The first round of the 2010 Dunlop BTCC takes place at Thruxton, Hants in April. > read more

Top European Ford Tuners choose Milltek for the new Focus RS

Ford's latest landmark performance model, the new Focus RS 2.5T, has not escaped the attention of Europe's top tuning firms and in their search for creating the ultimate tuning packages there was only one choice for the exhaust system – Milltek Sport.Milltek has brought together all of it's 25+ years development experience and technical knowledge to produce the ultimate exhaust system for the new Ford Focus RS.Milltek offers the exhaust in two forms, a cat-back system and a full turbo-back system. The cat-back system consists of a centre section, rear silencer assembly and dual DTM-tailpipes, and the turbo-back system adds a large-bore downpipe with adjustable bracket, and a hi-flow sports catalyst. The cat-back system can be fitted to a car in standard tune (without an ECU remap) but if you fit the full turbo-back system you will require an ECU remap to ensure a smooth and trouble-free integration with the engine management system. We also recommend that, if you have the ECU remapped, that you fit the full-turbo system to get the best out of both the exhaust and the remap. The 3-inch diameter pipework was chosen after extensive testing revealed that it offered the best balance between improved gas flow and reduced backpressure while maintaining low to mid-range torque, as well as enriching the five-cylinder engine sound without producing excessive noise or droning at cruising speeds. Do not however, assume it's a subtle sound; it endows the RS with spine-tingling tone under full acceleration, perfectly complimenting the character of the car.Completing the transformation of the exhaust system are a pair of purposeful-looking 4.5-inch (115mm) DTM-style tailpipes which look almost OEM in appearance but hint at the new levels of performance on offer. > read more

Milltek Sport: run by car enthusiasts, for car enthusiasts

At Milltek, we believe one of the most fundamental ingredients required for a successful business is a passion and enjoyment for the work that you do - which is why everyone here is mad about cars. While we take the products and services that we provide very seriously, we like to blow off steam in the only way that car enthusiasts know how...track days! The latest track day that we attended was Audi International 2009 at Castle Combe in Wiltshire. This was a great celebration of not only Audi's from every generation, but also from a massive array of other cars from the VAG Group. We've included some photos from the day which shows members from our Sales team, Marketing, Management etc. - in other words, from all corners within the company... > read more

Milltek Sport helps AmD's SEAT Cupra to victory in the Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup!

After a long 18 race Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup season the AmD SEAT Cupra, featuring a Milltek turbo-back exhaust system, driven by Simon Shaw took a well deserved championship victory with multiple podiums at Snetterton, Norfolk yesterday.Shaw had already done enough to clinch the Class A title by taking victory in the first race of the weekend. 3rd place in the 2nd race left him needing a 4th place finish to guarantee the overall title. As the lights flashed to green the AmD powered Cupra surged into the lead from the second row of the grid pursued by a pack of jostling Astra VXR's.Shaw kept them at bay with a measured performance but a late Safety Car period allowed the field to close up for a final 2 lap thrash. With Shaw only needing 4th place to secure the title he sensibly allowed Adrian Churchills' Astra through into the lead on the last lap but secured the overall Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup title with a solid 2nd place finish."I am thrilled to have taken the 2009 Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup with the AmD SEAT Cupra. The car has been fast and reliable all season. I would like to thank AmD, Mardi Gras, Milltek, Dunlop, KW Suspension and EBC for making the whole season possible", said a jubilant Shaw.Ryan Bensley, making his debut in AmD's Class B SEAT Leon FR, further hammered home the teams dominance by taking 2 wins and a 2nd place at his local track."I would like to thank Dunlop and AmD for giving me this opportunity and am now extra keen to find the budget to step up to this championship in 2010", said an ecstatic Bensley."I couldn't be more pleased with how the season has gone. The key to this championship is reliability, as well as speed. We have finished 36 out of 36 races which is a great credit to Mardi Gras Motorsport and AmD", said AmD boss Shaun Hollamby. > read more

CSL Cup season kicks off this coming weekend with the help of Milltek Sport

The CSL is a brand new race series for the BMW E46 M3 and CSL and it kicks off this weekend (18th and 19th April) at Rockingham Speedway, Northamptonshire. The BMW E46 M3 chassis was designed to be raced, a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution, an industry applauded engine with near perfect reliability, front engine, rear wheel drive, 350bhp - the car was built to race! The CSL Cup is a series developed purely for this model so that owners can race these cars in a competitive, cost effective series designed around maximising enjoyment, track time and competition. Two classes are available; 'Standard' and 'Modified'. Equalisation measures will be in place to ensure the M3 is on equal footing with the CSL models. The standard class is designed to be a cost effective entry to racing the E46 M3/CSL, items such as suspension, wheels and brakes are control items so each car is identical thus maximising the input of the driver. The modified class allows far greater changes to the models. Again, equalisation between the CSL and the M3 will ensure a level playing field. All the classes will run on a control tyre, which is yet to be decided upon. After much negotiation the CSL Cup has now been confirmed as being a core series on the Dunlop Great and British Racing Festivals. Accepted as being one of the highest levels of national motorsport in the UK the Dunlop Great and British racing festivals offer the best possible racing in the UK, Radicals, Mini Championship, SportMaxx all based on full themed race weekends with each Sunday offering complete tin top racing. Dunlop's extensive marketing and support provides a variety of benefits from the Dunlop Cafe (free refreshments for team members and supporters) to the complete tyre support package as offered to the BTCC. It is the first time a new series has been granted access to such a prestigious series.Milltek Sport has provided racing exhaust systems, featuring FIA-approved Motorsport Catalysts for several of the cars in on the grid. These systems are based on the system we provide as an upgrade for standard road-going cars and are a living testament to the extreme testing and rigorous development programme that all Milltek exhausts must go through before being released for general sale. For more information please visit the CSL Cup website. > read more

Large and growing grid bucks the trend for the VW Racing Cup

With 23 firm registrations already with five weeks to go before the start of the Volkswagen Racing Cup season, the Hankook-backed championship is all set for a recession-busting 2009.Six of last season's race winners are to return for another tilt at the title and there are several new drivers also, as well as an impressive diversity of models spearheaded by the svelte new Scirocco. The more than healthy state of championship entries delights Melissa Wright, director of championship promoter RacingLine: "I remained confident throughout the winter that the championship's unique blend of cost-effectiveness and competitiveness would help it prevail, and it is a great boost to have 23 confirmations with more than a month to go. Excitingly, there are at least a further six drivers I know of who are firming up their plans and who hope to be at Oulton Park on Easter Monday."The latest drivers to confirm their plans include Adrian Dziurzynski, who won 2008's final race and who has built a new car for '09, and James Walker, son of truck racing legend Richard.Dziurzynski, 25, is to forsake the venerable Mk II Golf GTI which he has campaigned for four seasons and will instead race a freshly built Mk IV Golf. He tested the new car for the first time on Saturday, at Castle Combe: "It's a phenomenal car. the quickest I have ever driven. The engine is exactly as in my old car, a 16-valve 2-litre, but the handling with the new shell is something else again. I'm a little heart-torn to be leaving the Mk II behind but I'm so pleased with the new one that it's making up for it!"Twenty-two-year-old Walker will return at the wheel of the Slidesports-prepared Golf with which he claimed championship sixth, and one race victory, in 2008. The Golf was converted from diesel power to petrol at the end of the season, helping James net a third-place finish at Donington Park, and he believes that further developments should help him to be a podium regular."I'm really looking forward to coming back," said Walker. "It's been a struggle because sponsorship has been hard to find, but we've dug deep to return because it's such an enjoyable championship. We did well with the petrol engine at Donington and since then we've made a lot of upgrades, which should make a big difference. The problem is the level of competitiveness is so high: there are a lot of good cars and some handy drivers."The other race winners returning are 2006 champion Paul Taylor with his Golf R32, Golf GTI pilots Steve Wood and Jamie Perry, and Mike Kurton, who will handle one of the exciting RacingLine-built Scirocco GTs.The other Scirocco will be in the hands of Liam Griffin, who made his racing debut in the Volkswagen Racing Cup in 2008. The Addison Lee Motorsport team will field Liam's old Golf GTI for his elder brother, Kieran Griffin. The Golf GTI will be numerically the most popular car on the grid: others planning to race the Wolfsburg favourite include old hand Michael McInerney, ex-Clio racer Peter Felix and championship newcomers Anna Walewska, Tim Snaylam and Aaron Mason.Five Beetles are expected on the grid at Oulton: RSIs for Darren Blumson, Martyn Culley, Nick Dunn and 2008 podium regular Steve Chaplin, plus a Beetle TDI for Andrew Smith. The irrepressible Peter Wyhinny will be back with the spectator-pleasing Caddy TDI and further diversity is added by the return of Doug Ross's Polo, the Vento VR6 of Barrie Culley, Tony Harberman's Golf VR6 and Steve Walker's Mk IV Golf.Milltek Sport have been active sponsors of the Volkswagen Racing Cup since 2004 and many of the teams use Milltek exhausts on their racing cars. > read more

Catalytic Converters in Motorsport - available now from Milltek Sport

For 2009 the Competitors and Officials Yearbook; the ‘Bluebook’ from the MSA states:-Exhaust catalytic converters must be fitted to all petrol engined production based saloon, touring and sports cars, including specialist production and kit cars manufactured after 31/12/99. They may be specified for certain other formulae. Competitors are reminded of their obligation to maintain such equipment on a vehicle used on the highway where government legislation requires it.Milltek has extensive experience in providing catalyst and exhaust solutions and can help your team to comply with the rules and ensure that your race car maintains the maximum performance possible. It's worth noting that testing by TÜV Bayern, in addition to other testing, have shown that HJS high performance catalytic converters do not produce any loss of engine performance (measurements according to DIN 70020) and keep within the exhaust gas regulations.Milltek Motorsport uses only the finest quality FIA-Approved HJS high-performance catalysts. This new generation of catalysts are characterized by 30% less weight in relation to catalysts built using existing materials and techniques. Back pressure has been reduced by a further 10%, and the exhaust gas pollution reduction is optimised. The thickness of the foil (0,11mm) remains unchanged but is now of a PE Foil design which uses perforations to reduce weight and increase flow. Although the products may be new, they have been extensively tested and shown to offer the same high-levels of durability and reliability of existing products.Milltek Sport has been active sponsors of the Volkswagen Racing Cup since 2004 and has been a UK Business Partner for HJS Motorsport since 2003. Motorsport catalysts are all 100 cpsi rated with special SM winding for maximum durability and have an outstanding heat rating of 1150 degrees C. These catalysts have been tested to produce up to 28% less backpressure than competitors products. To view the complete range of racing catalysts, find out more information about the new regulations, see the solutions Milltek Sport can offer your team or, to buy online, visit our new Motorsport Cats website: www.motorsportcats.com or alternatively call us on 01332 227280. > read more

New MKVI Golf GTi exhaust system development completed - Available Now

The eagerly anticipated new Mk6 Golf GTi exhaust system from Milltek Sport has now been completed.Milltek Sport engineers have worked hard to develop a new all-stainless steel performance exhaust system which injects a bit of attitude into the latest and most grown-up GTi yet.The main departure for the new Golf GTi is the fitment of a dual-outlet (a single tailpipe at each of the two rear corners of the car) which gives the GTi a more aggressive look than previous incarnations, however, there’s always room for improvement. Milltek have used slightly larger 100mm tips than the standard exhaust to further highlight this feature but also to work in harmony with the cars’ overall design. As with all Milltek exhausts, the objective has been to endow the car with a more purposeful sound but also to release extra power and better response by refining the journey the exhaust gasses take from the engine to tailpipe. > read more

Mountune and Milltek unleash hidden performance within new Fiesta Zetec-S and Titanium models - Available Now

Mountune, in conjunction with Milltek Sport have produced a performance upgrade package for 1.6-litre versions of the new-look Fiesta Zetec-S and Titanium models consists of a high-flow air induction system, a Milltek Sport high performance exhaust including high-flow catalyst and tubular manifold, and re-calibration of Ford’s 1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT engine. The result takes the target power output to 140PS at 6,750rpm and 170NM of torque at 4,250rpm, compared to 120PS and 152NM for the standard engine. As a result, 0-60mph acceleration time is reduced to 7.9 seconds from the standard engine's 9.9 seconds. The new dealer-fit Fiesta performance kit follows similar Mountune Performance Upgrades for the popular Focus ST and Fiesta ST models which were made available from the beginning of 2008.All kits are fully approved by Ford and have been tested and verified on a wide range of British roads as well as numerous laps of the famous Nürburgring circuit in Germany.Developed by Mountune Performance in association with Ford Team RS and Engineering Partner Milltek Sport, this upgrade package will only be available at selected specialist Ford dealers in Britain from March 2009. The upgrades carry a minimum of 12 months/12,000-mile dealer warranty and do not affect the original vehicle warranty.Visit Mountune Performance for more information. > read more

KTM X-Bow exhaust system is complete and enters product testing - Available Now

Milltek Sport are once again at the very forefront of new product development, this time it's with the brand new KTM X-Bow.While the car has been much praised for the quality of engineering and stunning ability to cover ground very quickly, some testers and owners alike have criticised it for its lack of aural drama from the Audi-derived 2.0T FSi engine. This is an engine that Milltek know very well from the Audi S3 and TT-S. Both cars were part of the Milltek long-term development fleet and the quality of the exhaust systems they released really shines through. The X-Bow entered the Milltek workshop a number of weeks ago and development began immediately on a new exhaust system that would give it the sound and performance to match it's amazing visual appeal. The new exhaust system will be first shown at the GTi International show at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground near Leicester this coming weekend (27th and 28th June). The car will be entering the Sprint race and even if you can't make the show to see it in action, we'll post videos and photos of the event here early next week... > read more

BMW E93 M3 V8 Convertible gets Milltek exhaust treatment - Available Now

Our previous-generation M3 products have proven to be extremely popular because of a unique combination of impressive power gains, aggressive but subtle styling, engineering perfection, and powerful but unobtrusive sound quality.Once again, Milltek have shown a true understanding of the latest generation M3 models and has already seen an impressive number of E92 Coupe owners choosing to upgrade to its stainless steel cat-back system.Following on from this success, Milltek have released an exhaust system for the Convertible model which offers all the same benefits as the Coupe's but is specifically engineered to work around the additional strengthening that BMW has used under the floor pan to compensate for the lack of roof. The cat-back system features left and right-hand centre sections and a left and right-hand rear silencer configuration. To provide the subtle enhancement to the look of the car, Milltek have chosen to use quad 80mm Special tailpipes which are slightly larger than the standard tailpipes (as fitted by BMW) but offer a suitably more aggressive look.Anyone looking to make their M3 more menacing by giving it a deeper and more aggressive sound without moving into boy-racer volumes need look no further! > read more

Milltek exhaust and Revo remap for SEAT Leon Cupra K1 - Available Now

Milltek Sport, in conjunction with Revo Technik, have transformed the Seat Leon Cupra K1 from a hot hatch into a red-hot rocket ship of a car.By developing a turbo-back exhaust system with a larger diameter pipe, hi-flow sports catalyst, an eye catching tailpipe design and, an ECU remap from one of the World's most respected tuning firms, we've managed to create the car that the K1 was always meant to be.The Cupra K1 is now running well over 330BHP and feels absolutely electrifying to drive. Milltek engineers tuned the sound of the exhaust to be aggressive but without droning but still be quiet when cruising around - needless to say they have hit those targets once again. The throttle response is now razor-sharp and the extra shove throughout the entire rev range will blow your Christmas socks off!If you own a K1 and are interested in transforming the experience of driving, see your nearest Milltek stockist or contact Revo Technik. > read more

New Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0T FSi gets the Milltek treatment - Available Now

Milltek Sport has already completed development on a performance exhaust system for the brand new VW Scirocco GT 2.0 TSi. Milltek engineers have had to call upon all of their many years of experience on this particular product to create a catalyst-back system that not only offers many of the features that you expect from a Milltek exhaust, namely increased performance and enhanced driveability, but also a product that can meet the rigorous performance and quality demands of the TÜV & E-Mark testing regulations that are required in many European countries. The standard Scirocco exhaust system features twin 70mm / 2.75" tailpipes but the Milltek system features slightly enlarged twin 80mm/3.15" tailpipes. These tailpipes have been selected specifically to look like they are part of the original design of the car and not to look like an aftermarket add-on. The Milltek system uses larger, full bore pipework and acoustically efficient silencers for better gas flow.Milltek Sport have already started development and testing on a full turbo back system which will be suitable for high output vehicles and trackday cars. Both systems will go on sale during October. Many thanks for APS of Brackley and SKN of Germany for co-operating with us on this project. > read more

Milltek Sport further enhances its best-selling Audi / Volkswagen product range - Available Now

Milltek Sport has built an enviable reputation for quality and reliability, owing partly to an intensive programme of new product testing and a continual assessment and redevelopment of existing products.Milltek have been supplying their hi-flow sports catalyst and downpipe assemblies for the Golf 5-generation of vehicles since it was first released back in 2005. Since then, they have owned two Golf GTis, an Audi TT 2.0T and an Audi S3, all of which covered many miles of varied development motoring – including considerable time on the racing circuit under track day conditions. All the vehicles were remapped to suit their higher-flowing exhausts and all vehicles were fitted with an uprated polyurethane engine torque arm insert. The primary reason for fitting this uprated part to the 2.0T cars is to reduce the amount of movement these engine produce during acceleration and deceleration. Not only does this improve the stability of the exhaust system, it also has the added bonus of making gear shifting smoother to enhance the driving experience further.Such has been the success and reliability of this combination of torque arm insert and the Milltek downpipe and catalyst, Milltek have upgraded the downpipe kits to include the Powerflex engine torque arm insert as standard. The list of kits upgraded are:Audi A3 2.0T 2WD and Quattro versionsAudi S3 2.0T up to 2008 facelift carsAudi TT Coupe and Roadster 2.0T 2WDAudi TTS 2.0TSeat Leon Cupra 2.0TSeat Leon FR 2.0TSkoda Octavia VRS 2.0TVW Golf V 2.0 GTiVW Golf V Edition 30 and Pirelli > read more
