Launched in 2000, this saloon car championship has quickly become known as one of the most exciting, must-see events in the UK racing calendar.
Its innovative technical regulations, unique in British motorsport, drop class structures in favour of a single class based on power to weight ratios. So the Cup is open to any model of racing Volkswagen and spectators can enjoy the colourful sight of a widely diverse grid which this year has attracted drivers of the Beetle RSi, the Golf VR6, Golf GTIs from Mk 1 to Mk 5, Corrado, Vento, Scirocco, Lupo, Polo and Bora. Engine usage can be just as varied, with turbocharged and even turbo diesel power joining the established 4 and 6-cylinder Volkswagen race motors.
